Wife yesterday as I fix my fourth glass of bourbon neat, "I don't think I've ever seen you drunk. But I've seen you drink a lot and that kind of worries me."

Woman logic right there.

My response basically equated drunkenness to the biological failings of weak willed men.

She found that even less funny.

I was drunk and in bed by 9:30. But someone drove me home and they brought me through the Taco Bell drive thru so overall its a win.

My SO left for work a couple hours later, so I’m sure I thoroughly annoyed him.

I agree. Baptists believe once saved always saved.

The Bible doesn't tell us to separate (like Methodist, Lutheran, Calvinist, Apostolic, etc). Those are man made distinction

RaimondGPville, TLDR: Be an imitatior of God full of mercy and grace, not a Pharisee.

Sir respectfully,

I would rank myself as the worst of sinners. I probably sholdn't stick my nose in this but...

God didn't give you a bat to beat people down, don't condemn others:
John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

We should all look in the mirror:
Matthew 7:3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

Being like the tax collector isn't all bad:
Luke 18:9-14
To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

We shouldn't think to highly of ourselves:
Isiah 64:6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

Boast like this:
2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Practice Humility:
Philippians 2:3
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,

The long and short God created us for relationship. We tarnished the relationship. He gave us a pass so now we have relationship once again. He then committed to us this message.

2nd Corinthians 5:18-21 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Again, I'm the worst of sinners!
You don't have to look very far to see how short I fall of who God has called me to be. One day I may turn back from my selfish desire to feed the flesh. I have not yet longed for what the pigs eat but know my ways seperate me from all that God has. Until that day I take refuge in his truth.

Romans 3:3-4 What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness? 4 Not at all! Let God be true, and every human being a liar.

Romans 8:33-39 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”[j]

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[k] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

All of the above prementioned scriptures copied/pasted from Bible Gateway

One other note:
I owe many apologies here on TD one individual comes to mind as I was writing this, Rando I have not been polite with you. I regret my behavior.

Absolutely not. See I used to be an idolater. I used to listen to Joel Osteen and TD Jakes and all these people talk about prosperity and wealth and mixing in with gospel and thought that I was headed to heaven. God convicted me and showed me that my soul was headed to a fiery hell pit full of fire and brimstone.

The fact that you are a sinner I literally stopped reading after that.

Romans 6
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Ephesians 5:11
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them

We have no fellowship therefore why even listen to a sinner?

You have made an odd little box to live in, not only can you not listen to any human you can't even listen to your own voice.

I have learned one thing from my profession, those who best quote law are almost always the most prolific criminals.
