If you can get 7-8 years you've already paid for the ticket

They are supposed to drive the vehicle and test the brakes. The state would rather you not do that while its raining, so yes, its against procedure

Well.....when I went back a few days later in the sunshine, they made sure my lights work, horn, wipers, turn signals, brake light. That's it. I've never been to an inspection place where they drove my vehicle.

Well, they aren't following procedure. Good for you, but they can get shut down if caught

A friend's son works for the DMV. He helps the State out by selling them on his own time, no charge to the State.

I live in Lafayette though. They don't even do emissions here.

My Father has a 1965 2+2 Ford Mustang that still has the last inspection sticker that was issued for it - 1973. The car sat for years until he did a restoration about ten years ago. It is now registered as an antique vehicle and (I think) exempt from inspection now. At any rate the 1973 sticker was left attached to the windshield and is the only one on there.

I knew someone who had one from 1992. They mostly traveled around the Grand Isle and Fourchon area and had no need for a new one!

They are exempt.

Grifters constantly say it helps keeps dangerous vehicles off the road; but those with vehicles they know wont pass just don't bother to get them inspected.

What’s so asinine is that vehicles over 25 years are exempt (if you do it right) so the vehicles most likely to have safety issues aren’t getting inspected.

If they truly wanted it to be a safety issue they should change the law so that only vehicles over 15 years need biennial inspections and those over 25 an annual. And make the inspections far stricter more akin to what they make hot rods go through or similar to some Northern states where they inspect the chassis and structural integrity.

As it stands it’s a money grab.

Only place in GA that requires inspection is metro Atlanta due to EPA emission restrictions. Glad I left 15 years ago and moved outside the inspection zone. frickin’ racket…

I know someone who moved from out of state and didn't even realize they had to do that every year

It's time to get rid of it

My dad issues state inspection stickers. As soon as they pull in, he scrapes them off before he even looks at the vehicle. That way, they cant just drive away if he tells them something aint right.

This is actually doing a favor to the people with expired stickers.

A cop seeing no sticker may just think you're from out of state unless he looks at your plates.

An expired sticker is immediately obvious that there's a violation.

I took mine off. Have a crack in the front window so would likely fail. This “tax” should be fixing our roads. Can’t drive anywhere without hitting a pothole or seam in the road to make car fly.
