No because that would make too much sense

Not QUITE as old as Martini, but I got my license at 15 in the late 70's and didn't take drivers ed. It was offered at my school during summer session, but I worked and didn't have time.

I took it at SMHS around 1993. They had a trailer on campus with these crazy computer simulators that played a '70s filmstrip we had to drive to. The driver's ed teacher would have me drive her to Baton Rouge airport so she could collect Spanish moss to use as giftwrap. We received a half credit for the class, too. My son's high school in Mississippi offers it as many others do, as well. Strange to hear of a high school not offering it these days.

My son just got his license in December. The school we used was $350 for the class and then another $50 for the driving test. At the DMV, I just had to pay for the cost of his license.

Be happy it's not Germany it's $2,000 to get a license over there and you will take the classes

Oldest kid is ready for state mandated driver's ed. $400.

I'm in my 30's so its possible that its changed since I got my DL, but in LA you had to complete a 36 hour drivers ed course if you were under 17. Could get a learner's permit at 15 and DL at 16. If you waited until 17 to get DL, there was only a 6 hour classroom course required before you could go to DMV to get a DL

MS boy checking in. Never took drivers Ed. It was offered for free at the public school and during the summer at my segregation academy. Never took it. Dirt road self educated. 15 was the legal age in MS in the 80's.
I let my kids drive the back roads when we are there.

Drivers ed teacher here. In La. doesn't matter how old you are you still need a 14 hr class( 6 clasroom, 8 behind wheel). I had a 70 year old last month.

And you actually learn to drive and handle a car, not just learn the rules of the road.

Yeah sure, that's the goal.

Took drivers ed my sophomore year (2005) in highschool. Think there was a small fee. I actually failed the driver test for my license the first time I took it
