Was talking to a neighbor the other day who lives out in the sticks and he said he can barely kill varmints and possums and raccoons and other pests like he used to anymore, even if they semi-endanger his pets.

He still kills snakes and "evil" creatures no problem, but says he can even hunt deer or ducks anymore because he doesn't want to kill a peaceful wild animal who is just going about his business.

Is this common as you age? Or is just one's own mortality starting to sink in as they get closer to leaving this realm.

I’m older but I was never a hunter. All my friends that grew up hunting still do. Some hunt more because they are retired.

I used to kill anything.

Now, unless it's an armadillo, I rarely kill a pest.

Your neighbor is Liam Neeson. He's seen enough killing and just wants to live a peaceful life, but circumstances beyond his control will force him to wreak havoc.

Most folks get softer as they age.

Well he is idiotically killing the things that kill the varmints so he doesn't have to.

I've become a bit more of a pacifist as I've aged

My dad pretty much gave up hunting after high school. Just wasn't a big deal to him. He's now 76 and for the last 10 years he's really gotten into hog hunting. Kills one almost every night. Been trying to get a coyote, but hasn't had any luck yet. Still not a deer hunter. Leaves that up to me and my son. There's no telling how much he's spent on guns, ammo, and equipment.

i'm 57 and i'll shoo a wasp outside before i step on it.

i mean, he didnt ask to come inside so why make his life more miserable?

i also pause when mowing to give the bees time to fly off the clover patch if they're in front of me

I've killed just about everything that crawls or walks, but now I try my best to only kill animals that I eat.

I will kill wasps in my deer stands and venomous snakes if I come across them tho.

I've been avoiding killing any critter that isn't a danger to me, my family or my pets since I was in my early 20's.

It's the only life those animals have so to take it away from them just because I can is just cruel and a cowardly thing to do.

No chance of that! I just turned 67, I now no longer kill any animals, even stopped my dog from killing opossums anymore. The fact I accept cats now even has my wife realizing how much I changed.
I guess I just respect animals more today, especially since half of the American population has lost their freaking minds in favor of woke insanity!
