I’m 51. I grew up in a very isolated home with woods to hunt in all around. I did a fair amount of squirrel hunting in my teens. I’ve gone deer hunting a few times and have never gone duck hunting.
The last 9-10 years I’ve been able to travel out west to places like Rocky Mountain NP, Yellowstone, & Yosemite. I’ve really started appreciating the beauty of animals and really enjoy being able to just sit and watch them.
Currently I have chickens at my house and have for around 10 years. I have trapped around 20-25 raccoons over the years and probably 8-10 possums. I think I’ve only killed 1 of the raccoons and 1 possum. I know both of them are subject to kill a chicken, but more often than not they are just after some feed. I don’t really care to shoot them.
On the other hand there was a wildcat that killed 6 of my hens. I would have had no problem killing it, but I never got an opportunity.
