The only thing I ever recall seeing that is worth mentioning is a car that was actually one fire.

Did they let it burn long enough to become two fire?

Did Antique Tiger make an offer yet?

I'd love to see what he can flip it for!

Yep. That’s a P51 Mustang alright. Specifically a P51D, the version that gave the Mustang the reputation as being arguably the best fighter of the war. When the D came out it finally gave the 8th Air Force a fighter that could escort the bombers to and from targets in Germany. It was also very effective in ground attack as well.

This particular one has “invasion stripes” that was painted on all Allied aircraft during Operation Overlord.

Exactly. Didn't it seem strange to anyone that the "P-51" is about the same size as the pickup truck towing the trailer?

I didn’t pay attention in the OP. But you’re right. However, I will also say the P-51 wasn’t that big of a plane, especially if you compare it to the P-47. That thing was a behemoth.

The P-47's could already do this with drop tanks. What you typically see are the comparisons of the P-51 with drop tanks and the P-47's range without (on the extreme ends). Then you have to take into account the P-51's fuel needs to be at (I believe) 70% internal fuel capacity to be fully combat effective maneuverability wise while the P-47 has no restrictions.

There is a good argument to be made the P-47s tore through the gauntlet of Germany's better pilots while the P-51 rode the coat tails, because the P-47's already destroyed the more experienced pilots.

A really good reason why the P-51 replaced the P-47 - unit cost. The P-47 was an expensive aircraft to build.

Yup, considering both Gabreski and Johnson, 1 and 2 respectively in the ETO, flew the 47.

Good post btw

How is that person allowed to own a weapon of war? It was specifically designed to kill people. you don’t need a P-51, just get a glider.

That’s pretty typical for a unfinished homebuilt replica with no engine. Will take probably another $50,000 to get it to fly, and homebuilt aircraft with automotive engines have a less than stellar safety record.

Yes... I noticed it wasn;t a full size mustang too... I searched and found the same sight...

It's a small replica baws...

But it would still be fun as hell to fly...
