strep throat...10 days... and yes, I did make a decision to continue taking it, like I said, because not taking it led to withdrawals... and that shite sucks, so knowing if I continue taking it I won't be dopesick, or if I quit taking it, I'll feel like I'm dying, its a pretty simple choice for a 19 year old in college...
You can just admit you liked the way they made you feel, you weren’t dope sick from ten days of use on whatever they gave you for strep throat

Getting dopesick as you call it after 10 days is not believable. I've been on opioids for more than 15 years for a genetic disorder that will never go away. I would understand 3 months, a year maybe but 10 days is a copout for sure
Agreed and not to discount it if he ended up with a problem for real but nobody is gonna withdrawal symptoms from 10 days of Vicodin even if you’re eating like 20 a day. There may be a mental craving going on but not dope sick .

Of course there will always be those that begin change to only fall back yet there are still many that persevere and change their lives completely through their belief in Christ. Everyone has their own way of dealing and overcoming and though I'm not a believer it doesn't stop me from appreciating what Christ does to help others, whether real or not.
I think this is a very keen and accurate statement amd viewpoint. Whether Jesus Christ (or any other God) is real or not, the BELIEF that something out there can help you beat the addictions is imperative. You’ve proven to yourself time and time again that despite your hardest efforts, you still got fricked up again. Then, you’ll lose hope and eventually die. If you believe with all your heart that SOMETHING out there, Jesus or an Oak tree can help you recover, at least you have a chance.
That chance gives you hope. That hope can save your life.
I’m not making this up, I’ve been there. Was it Jesus, I guess I don’t really know. But I do know for sure that I haven’t had a drop of alcohol in over 4 years and couldn’t put together 3 weeks at one point.. That’s real, I know that.

Love and family are a better motivator to improve than Christianity

I don’t disagree, just feel especially lucky that I had all three in my corner.

when you are opiate naive, yes, it's absolutely possible to go through withdrawals that quickly... but don't take my word for it... go look up the new CDC prescribing guidelines, and the research associated with it... there's a reason insurance and pharmacies are limiting opiate prescriptions to 7 day initial fills, and why they don't allow high morphine milliequivalent scores anymore, with research showing that opiate naive patients develop physiogical dependence after just a few days... here's a link if you'd like to read about it....
anyway, I did end up between 20 to 30 per day, for pretty much my entire 20s, and into my 30's... sucks, b/c that's time I'll never get back...
and really, ask yourself, why would I lie about that? what do I stand to gain by telling my story to a bunch of anonymous strangers? would seem like a really stupid thing to lie about, especially with no motive for doing so, which is why I don't understand what's so "unbelievable" about it.... what exactly am I trying to "copout" of?
