This is a big one for me. Ever since I was in college, the expectation was that you checked your email daily. If some professor forgot to give you the assignment before the end of class, they would send an email. Mind you, this is different than online modules.
You were, and are in the professional world, essentially on the clock all day. I had a-hole professors send emails over the weekend with assignments due for the first day the following week.

Being able to do stupid and embarrassing shite without the whole world knowing about it within a day and it living forever on the internet. Also, not having to deal with a whole generation of sociopaths bullying people for internet clout on worldstar and tiktok. I know kids were bullied and killed themselves pre-internet, but it seems worse today with the influence of social media.

This is a great thread. I lived in a Neighborhood in the late 70s early 80's with 12 boys around the same age so there was always.
Fights over treehouses
Football, basketball or baseball games
ramps being built to jump with your bikes
Fishing tourneys in the Cahaba River behind our subdivision
Finger banging a girl in a dark movie theater
Going fishing with my Dad every Sat
Some of us getting beat with a belt just to come home to eat dinner
Driving the golf cart while my grandad played golf
Putting on one of my dads VHS porn tapes trying to get the babysitter horny
Shooting our BB guns and roman candles at eachother
Around 13 stealing our parents cars when they would go out to eat with eachother and going cruising
ringing and running
crank phone calls
Playing Marco Polo at the pool and grabbing titties and arse on purpose

Riding bikes to your friends house to play games instead of online

Ah yes. How could I forget about these. Every 4th of July and Christmas/New Year's holiday season. Bottle rockets and Roman Candles were the weapons of choice (short stemmed firecrackers for up close combat).

Just thankful I was never arrested by the sheriffs who occasionally scared us off and made it to adulthood with both eyes intact.

I miss the smell of creosote pillings when a new house was being constructed.

Panchos take-out got me through college. For 3 bucks, you could get a dozen flautas and a burrito the size of a football.

Lack of cell phones and internet, by a very large margin.

Video game arcades.
Give me $10 worth of quarters and I’d be set for hours.
Sure, gaming is better now, with PS, XBox, etc but you’re sitting at home and not getting out in a social environment and seeing other people. Today’s kids are extremely socially awkward because they are growing up in a time where face to face interaction is dying.

Riding my dirt bike as a kid, swimming in creeks and bayous, and football practice.
I even miss being a paperboy, I actually enjoyed it.
