It doesn't matter if that's how it started (and I really don't think "trolling" was the intended origin). At some point if a group co-opts an image or symbol it becomes associated with that group and becomes part of that group. The Nazi salute, or Bellamy Salute, predates the Nazis and Italian facists by hundreds of years. Do you associate it with the Romans or the Nazis? The Swastika predated the Nazis by several thousand years but do normal people associate it with anything other than Nazis? Try displaying a swastika or doing their salute in Germany and see how that goes when you argue you're displaying an ancient Hindu symbol you accidentally drew the wrong direction.

i went to see mike the tiger a while back and i told some buddies in a group chat to do to the live webcam to see me looking at a tiger. when i saw some of them were watching i did the aok sign as a circle game thing to troll them and for the rest of the time i was there, like another 10 minutes, the webcam zoomed in on my face and followed me around like they thought i was gonna shoot everything up lol
