Your hypothetical assumes those funds are spent wisely without fraud and corruption
The assumption that there is mass fraud and corruption is usually the excuse used for people who have no idea how much construction costs are.

Construction is expensive, but there is a shite ton of fraud and waste.
These aren’t mutually exclusive

Most states tax EVs every year in lieu of gas tax.
Thanks for the info. I did not know that.
Does Louisiana?

But we’ve always been paying taxes forever that was supposed to be for our infrastructure. Yet Biden passed the largest spending bill in history that was supposedly meant to pay for infrastructure improvements that we were already paying taxes for. Also that money had to be spent in 5 years if I’m not mistaken. Where’s that money?

Don't disagree with there being waste and fraud.
That is true in regular business as well. Thinking there is enough fraud to make a noticeable difference is just fodder.

$110 for electric. $60 for ev
Pretty much the equivalent of 25mpg and driving 15000 per year.

Ohio charges an extra $200 for electric vehicles

Perhaps, maybe what we really need is a 15% tax on all Snap/EBT purchases made ?

You understand why this wouldn’t make any sense huh?.

Trump should suspend the federal gas tax like Canada did.

Government is horribly inefficient at capital allocation.
This has nothing to do with highway construction. Across all segments of government spending, 20-50 percent of all spending is lost to waste, fraud corruption and outright theft.

They should reduce that fee for one year by 25% to keep it fair, but they won't.

Why not? SNAP and EBT purchases should be subject to the same sales taxes everyone else pays. I would even support rolling back sales taxes back on food and make SNAP and EBT semi self funded.

Just to be clear, you want to tax dollars provided by tax?
So the 15% tax on SNAP purchases could be used to fund the SNAP system?
It is like an infinite money glitch
Posted on 10/4/26 at 12:24 pm to Tarps99
Well bc that would be the government taking back the money it just gave out

This is what the public sees. Absolute gridlock, no loop around BR, traffic lights still out of sync, spending money on bike lanes where they make no sense. That sort of thing lowers public confidence.
