Oh the Horror or How I was treated by Racist Immigration officials.

When I arrived in the country for my new job with a one year renewable contract, because I stupidly answered a question incorrectly, I was briefly detained in a holding office at the airport . There, two uniformed immigration officials went through my bags and called my employer to verify that my employment was guaranteed. It was not very pleasant as I could have been taken to a plane and deported back to my home country. After about an hour I was released to catch my connecting flight.
When I arrived at the residence I would live at, after about a week, I was visited by two law enforcement officers. They told me they hoped I enjoyed my lengthy stay in their country, but to remember that I was a guest in their country and that I was expected to observe all laws or suffer the consequences. They asked me what my daily schedule would be like and requested the license plate of the car I would be driving. They took my passport for 24 hours to make a copy of it and gave me their business cards. They took a photo of me. They spoke to the owner of the home I was staying in. They told me that if I overstayed my visa I would be fined and after paying the fine, deported and not be allowed back in country for a specific number of years. They followed up with periodic phone calls to my residence ( like twice).
It was all very racist to be asked and required to observe the laws of another country. After decades of therapy I feel I can share this story of how the racistsexisthomophobic TrumpNazis of Japan so cruelly dealt with Your Humble Pimpness. And how only my incredible bravery and courage allowed me to survive this racist treatment. Please send me your thoughts and prayers retroactively.

I'm really sorry to hear of your mistreatment. I want to offer you three pints of frozen chicken broth, an entire loaf of unleavened bread, and some homemade goat cheese.

Korea is just a wonderful place isn’t it!

To make matters worse, because I lived in a rural area, people would randomly look at me, point and say “foreign person” (gaijin). It’s a miracle, but with the help of the fine people at the Asahi and Kirin breweries I somehow survived that Trump White supremacist level of racism.
