Any idea the distance of the ADIZ off the seaboard? Looks like it varies but on average like 200 - 300 nm?

200-300nm being about the operational limits of most ground based radar that would seem about right. The problem is what is shown is the designated ID area, not what is actually protected. I have another document that shows areas of concern with no radar coverage, I cannot post it, but it is in the public domain if someone looks hard enough.

Even ultra high end systems have trouble playing FSX on maximum resolution and FPS

I think if I were a terrorist, and the plane was stolen, I'd have a boat somewhere out there in the ocean dumping a bunch of suitcases, clothes, seat backs, etc. etc. into the water.

Why didn't the ATC ask why they were deviating off of the flight plan?

They may have. We have no clue what to believe anymore the way Malaysian authorities release info.

Tons of failures by Malaysian ATC.

The transponder was off before last contact.

The Malay Mail Online has translated a report from newspaper Berita Harian that quotes a source saying that the pilot, Malaysia Airlines veteran Zaharie Ahmad Shah, had loaded five runways in the Indian Ocean onto his flight simulator. “The simulation programmes are based on runways at the Male International Airport in Maldives, an airport owned by the United States (Diego Garcia), and three other runways in India and Sri Lanka," the source told the paper.

The UK Telegraph has picked up the report, which notes that the Malaysian government had already discounted the possibility that the plane landed at Diego Garcia, an atoll in the Indian Ocean home to a United States naval base, but that they would renew their search there. They are also not dismissing any of the other possibilities, including that the plane landed on an island in the Maldives.

Maldives.. They should check there. They had reports of the plane in the area from multiple people on the ground.

Either Malaysia ATC is the most incompetent organization in aviation history or the Malaysian government is orchestrating a pretty large cover up.
