Is it possible to dump cargo mid flight? To drop some weight to land on a shorter runway.
I'm only seeing two tweets about that and they are both over 30min ago... Maybe it is something, but I would think news stations would have gotten this if it was anything.
Also, for the luggage to be there, it seems like someone would have found more already since that is a very narrow straight compared to the other areas they have already searched.

Could be the reason for the low altitude. If possible that is. I have no clue either.

I wouldn't think so. I would think you would run considerable risk to inflicting some major damage on the 777 underside.

Well theres your motive... Depressed anti-govt fanatic with a flight simulator and access to a 777.
I'm leaning towards suicide now, but the other data is still confusing.

Malacca has been searched up and down. There's no way it crashed around there.

If the wife just left him with the kids then we have a major development. My question is could one person shutdown all these communication systems by himself?

if he took out the co-pilot, decompressed the plane killing everyone else... Set the auto pilot and took care of the communications... Id think yes

The first thing you have to do is kill the copilot.
This seems really easy. You can manually decompress the cabin from the information we have in this thread. He could have killed himself and put plane on autopilot after knocking out communication.
ETA: The electrical engineer/ PhD Professor with flight simulation experience was not on the plane. A man with the same name was on board though.

The simplest explanation is often the correct one.
Pilot suicide would be the most likely scenario.

remember watching CNN talk about a possible hijacking scenario before the Malaysian PM made it official. They said some of the equipment that was turned off was located below decks, thus requiring a second person to physically go down into the hold or wherever this device was located and switch it off. Therefore, if true, two or people would have been required to successfully pull this thing off.
Negative, this is why there is a 14 minute gap in shutting down the two systems. The pilot first turns off the transponder from the flight deck then, goes below to the avionics bay and kills the ACARS signal. The plane is flying along on autopilot, no problem for the pilot to do it alone.

If it's suicide and he crashed it, why fly for 7 hours?
Why not just crash it close to where he lived?

ETA: Almost like letting fate or god determine if anyone on ground should die also?

Someone mentioned that he could put the plane on autopilot. I didn't know you could do that. Theoretically he could have killed everyone on the plane by going to a high altitude and then decompressurzing the cabin, turned off the transponders, put the plane on autopilot, kill himself and then let the plane fly for 7 hours by itself in order to screw with all of our minds later.

Exactly Doc. Why shut down all of the radio, elect., Etc. turn the plane around and fly for 7 hours? You just crash it, no need for all the other shite.

It sure seems like their jobs would be much easier now than it was. 20-30 years ago.
Air traffic control today is state of the art for 30 years ago! If technology that has been available for at least a decade was put into place, the whole system could be automated with little need for controllers. The air carriers want to move rapidly ahead with a more modern system, but they are dealing with a government run entity,

Could he have had second thoughts? Possibly contemplated flying into a building in Malaysia then changed his mind?
I just want to know the rules of suicide...people who committ suicide always do it in their first impose?

Here'e just a link to a google image search for "flight path Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370". Some of the images will fill you in pretty quickly on where all of this happened.

Seems silly to try to predict the mindset of someone that would do something like this. You can't apply logic to someone clearly behaving illogically.

Government is the issue... Not surprised.

Suicide I don't find hard to believe
Flying the plane for 7 hours and THEN crashing it.. I find that hard to believe
