PM said Northern corridor is Kasakhstan to Thailand. Kazakhstan is way north of Pakistan and Iran. That is truly a large area of land to search.
The range of this plane is far beyond what CNN shows on their map...if the pilot flies slower it conserves fuel to extend that range.
It really looks like that plane is being turned into a terrorist weapon. Israel and Moscow are within those ranges.
Maybe the passengers are still alive though.

The prime minister just said the northern corridor was Turkmenistan, kazanistan, to northern Thailand. The one I am spelling wrong borders Russia. Turkmenistan is on other side of Pakistan. Am I missing something here? How in the hell could it fly that far? It would have had to cross lots of land and through many more radars.

Were they too low to be picked up by radar?
They knew to fly commercial routes to avoid suspicion. Is there any way to differentiate those planes retroactively if they have radar logs still?
There have to be reasons. Then again as others have stated maybe they know exactly where and don't care to let on just yet.

the graph is wrong, the 2200 mile circle shown on tv is from where they think the plane is, if the plane is not there then the scope of the range changes

Well they got picked up by Malaysian military radar so I would think most countries that border oceans would pick up airplanes entering their airspace. I would post the map but I'm on my phone... Unless Turk & kaz have territories in the Bay of Bengal I don't get it. The area seems larger today then if the just did a 360 deg radius from Malaysia.

I'm too tired to think. I expected a more condensed search area. Never thought flying all the way to Turkmenistan was possible with the flight path it started on.

When the plane ascended to 45000 feet, the O2 masks deploy.
they've been reporting that the altitude reading were unreliable because of the distance from the military satellite that recorded them. It was changing altitude but probably not that extreme.

Now, it seems we are the ones 2 steps behind the hijackers.
We can't seem to conceive of their plan with the jet, and they are already doing it.
I hope that the USofA knows more than they are letting on. Otherwise, we might be in for it.

The plane departed Kuala Lumpur at 12:21 AM, and it was just reported that the last known ping with the plane occurred at 8:11 AM...just under 8 hours after it took off.
The flight time from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing is approximately 6 hours. Assuming the plane had 8 hours of a fuel for a 6 hour flight, the last ping could have occurred just before the plane crash landed, or after it had already landed.

For those who would like to read the new information
CNN
Fox News

(CNN) -- A week after Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 vanished, investigators refocused on passengers and crew onboard after data indicated the plane deviated due to deliberate action, Prime Minister Najib Razak said Saturday.
"Malaysian authorities have refocused their investigation on crew and passengers aboard," Najib told reporters. "Evidence is consistent with someone acting deliberately from inside the plane."

The official, who is involved in the investigation, told The Associated Press on Saturday that no motive has been established, and it is not yet clear where the plane was taken. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief the media.
The official said that hijacking was no longer a theory. "It is conclusive," he said.
