Why would anyone claim responsibility before their plan was fully executed? With the first stage of an elaborate multiple-level plan successful, that would be the most completely stupid thing to do. The only way I could see a group claiming responsibility at this point would be in the event that the plane did crash prior to achieving success in phase one. In that event, they would claim it was a hijacking with a planned crash only. They would claim a success even though the end game plan was a failure. That is why I feel it has landed somewhere.

Considering these planes fly at nearly 600mph, with a range of like 6000-10,000 miles,1000 miles is close in terms of flying.

Fair point.

If its true the plane was hijacked and crashed, then m starting to believe they will never recover nor find the plane. Search area to vast. Took 2 years to find the Air France crash but they atleast had wreckage to pinpoint a search area.

It took 2 years to find the black boxes. The wreckage was found after a few days.

Depends on the motive. If it was indeed hijacked and the passengers are still alive, they could demand a ransom.

Didn't realize it was already linked here. I only went back one page to look. My bad.

Sorry I am watching it live on Sky News on TV.
Spokesperson came in and said no questions will be answered at this conference.
Questions could be submitted to the media center for possible answers at 5:30 local time. (4:30 AM Central Time.)

ONe motive for no responsibility claim.
Apparently most of these modern aircrafts can be hacked by AWACS, etc so that should they be hijacked, they could be controlled from the ground. If this was a trial run by a terrorist organization just to see what was possible, then I could definitely see them sending the plane to ditch is the hardest place to find possible while never claiming responsibility. Knowing they can do it, they could move forward on other targets.
A rather disconcerting thought.

If it didn't crash, I just hope the passengers will be found alive and safe.
Whatever happened, I'm thinking Iran will probably get the blame.

At this point I'd say that was a given.

Malaysiam PM summary:
Can confirm with a high degree of certainty that the ACAR systems were turned off. Shortly after the transponders were turned off.
The tracked plane movement is deliberate action by someone on the plane.
The FAA/NTSB/AAIB/ Malaysian authorities. all confirm satelite data that at 8:11 AM Malay time on Saturday morning last confirmed contact.
Believe the plane is either in
-a Northern corridor Turkmenistan to Afghanistan.
-a Southern corridor Indonesian to Indian Ocean.
Will not say that it was hijacked.
Ending South China sea search and relocating assets.

Fred they said kasikstan not Afghanistan. Have no idea where kaz is or how to spell it but Turkmenistan is way up there. Makes no sense.

Probably not.
When the plane ascended to 45000 feet, the O2 masks deploy.
They stayed at that altitude long enough for the O2 to run out.
I'm afraid the people flying the plane did that on purpose to kill all the passengers.
