I thought that may be the case earlier, but why keep flying? Just crash the thing.

Pilot suicide
Pilot or passenger was able to shut down almost all the communication except the 2nd transmitter.
Expert on CNN going off information "pings" and transponder being shut down says someone shut it off on purpose.

Maybe the pilot was thinking long and hard about his decision to commit suicide?

Two U.S. officials tell ABC News the U.S. believes that the shutdown of two communication systems happened separately on Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. One source said this indicates the plane did not come out of the sky because of a catastrophic failure.
The data reporting system, they believe, was shut down at 1:07 a.m. The transponder -- which transmits location and altitude -- shut down at 1:21 a.m.
This indicates it may well have been a deliberate act,

Whoever disabled communications, probably also manipulated the voice recorder/black box.

Think he's talking about the generator that drops down beneath the plane incase of electrical systems failure
yes.

ram air generator port.
similar.
so total electrical failure. not so much. manual shutdown of comms and pings of the systems still operating mean humans wanted that plane to go dark. period.

The communication systems were purposely disabled.

Yeah, I'm going with hi jacking.
I don't think we'll ever know for sure though, assuming no one is alive.

Maybe a trial run of the shoe bomb to gain cockpit access?
Govmt doesn't want to alarm public so keeping news limited?

Hijacking or pilot(s) decided to bring plane somewhere.
If hijack then they may have run out of fuel before getting to destination. Then again, maybe they made it to destination.
