Yeah, I'm going with hi jacking. I don't think we'll ever know for sure though, assuming no one is alive.
Only if they find the Cockpit voice recorder, which is possible based on the Air France crash.

Govmt doesn't want to alarm public so keeping news limited?
This and we do not want to reveal much intelligence. Notice the line is "Within the last 24 hours, Malaysian authorities revealed to us the plane's coordinates over the Indian Ocean," or it's "Boeing's communication sat. got pings once an hour." All bullshite.
We probably have damn near a video of where it crashed.

won't find it 20000 fathoms in the Indian.
I think it went down Payne Stewart style TBH.
the only variable I don't like is the manual shutdown of the COM.

So is aliens gaining main stream traction yet?
I'm ready to see the CNN talking heads discuss the ins and outs of an alien abduction instead of eletrical equipment

Have we given second thought to electronics interference? Not physical "hijacking" but more sophisticated?

That and the transponder being shut off just before it disappeared from radar.

Whoever disabled communications, probably also manipulated the voice recorder/black box.

Both transponders are controlled by one control panel, it is not intuitive for someone not trained in its operation what switch configurations turn everything off. The link explains all the controls.
My theory is someone not fully understanding the transponder controls thinks they have turned everything off, and 14 minutes later notices that they did not shut down both transponders and then does so.

Apparently, business class on every MAS 777-200 is equipped with satellite phones. Is there any way to disable the phones from the cockpit?

yes. I lumped them together under communications.
see, I do this shite for a living and I didn't know you could MANUALLY shut down COMS. it seems to me, like our systems, a potential emergency situation, the transponder and emergency beacon AUTOMATICALLY go into oh shite mode and start sending a looped ping in every which direction so every boat, satellite and radio would receive said emergency signal.
I still think it went down, but I cannot piece together all the variables to formulate a bulletproof reason why.
frickin weird man.
I'll clarify some, when the plane detects a potentially dangerous AOA, or angle of attack, and the plane does not correct in self, it should try to save itself automatically. when it cannot do so, the logic gates inside the flight control computers SHOULD override manual settings.
frick. weird.

Actually, disabling the CVR in the cockpit isn't difficult at all.

That's 80,000 feet, the deepest point on earth is the Mariana Trench at a little over 31,000 ft.
Air France debris was found at 16,000ft in a search area of 2500 square miles
The Indian Ocean's average depth is 12,990 feet and its deepest point, in the Sunda Deep of the Java Trench off the southern coast of Java, is 24,442 feet.

Had read every single page of this thread until I fell asleep for 17 hours and I just woke up. I'm assuming I haven't missed anything even though there's like 40 new pages?

Only if the flight computers are getting accurate data from sensors, the Air France situation for example.

My dad is convinced they landed the plan and are filling it with explosives etc and will put the passengers back on and dare us to shoot it down before it's used on another terrorist attack.

you got me.
I was throwing a number out.
good call tho.

yes good point. I'm not sure but could the commercial FCC's be powered down?

I wouldn't doubt it at this point

No questions asked, if that plane shows back up its getting shot down
