Malaysia's handling of this situation has been invariably inconsistent. They don't have the resources or the competence to conduct a research effort that will produce answers, particularly since this now appears that it could have been a contrived operation.
They need to relinquish their investigative authority to a more competent governmental entity.

Going by that article, I infer we've known all along where it was via technical means, but waited a decent interval to avoid revealing the extent of our surveillance capability. Hopefully they knew already knew there was no possibility of survivors.

AQ didn't claim responsibility for 9-11 until a few months later, and then only in an indirect statement by Bin Laden. Whoever did the anthrax attacks still hasn't owned up to it, nor have the power station attackers from a few weeks ago. Anonymous or semi-anonymous terrorism isn't all that uncommon.
