And, how can you use an airliner? You can't exactly sneak up on entering any country's airspace with a 777.

Pay attention....it's called a cloaking device.

Unless the plane is cloaked

This plane seems to have done a great job of not showing up on radar.

Don't know what the odds are.

I believe the plane was shot down.

Problem with that is the US, China, and Russia have all said that no large explosion was detected on satellites at the time of disappearance.

If one of those three would have shot the plane down then other two would be immediately ratting out the other one.

The oil field worker

Don't believe his story. Anyone who has been on a rig can tell you that if one guy sees something the whole damm rig knows. No way that guy kept that to himself. The copy of his email that was posted was sent to a generic email addy. Something like @google or @yahoo. If he wanted people to know why no send it to some media outlet?

It appears that Malaysia has totally fricked this up from the point the plane went missing. I have worked with many Malaysians and I still can't decide if it is incompetence or just stupidity.

Whatever they could buy wouldn't have near the range of a 777ER. Those things can go 8,800 miles. It's like having a slow ballistic missile. They couldn't find a 777 on the black market. Even if they could find one, they're $260,000,000.00 new from Boeing. It'd be more on the black market. They're in mega high demand by first rate air carriers. You could probably buy an old Ilyushin 86 for $10MM. Range is 2,300 miles though... see the difference the 777 makes in range?

What are the theories why they can't locate the black box?

Cloaking?
Terrorist able to deactivate?

Well I was referring to our time. And of course they are going to SAY they are committed to finding it.

Yeah I read it. All 3 countries are too dependent on each other (Russia is especially dependent on us & China) to rat the others out over something that really doesn't affect any of the 3. We won't rat the other 2 out because they own so much of our debt....they could dump our debt & REALLY frick us.

And how do you know 12 other guys on that rig didn't see it? They could talked about it or emailed their home countries and we wouldn't know about it?
Just a thought.

Yeah it wouldn't have taken Australia long to scramble some F14s if that thing got close to their airspace. I would guess the same for India too.

if the Wall Street Journal's Rolls Royce sources are to be believed, we can cross out catastrophic disintegration/explosion at altitude and suicide/pilot error plunge into the sea because they claim it kept flying for 5 hours. That leaves hijacking and hypoxia as the two possibilities.
And I think we can rule out hypoxia because auto-pilot would not have flown the plane below or outside radar for five hours. That leaves one: Highjacking.

I still believe there's a small chance that somehow the plane made it to a large body of water (South China Sea or Indian Ocean) and crashed there. It's becoming obvious that the plane is not located in the current search area of Gulf of Thailand and Strait of Malacca.

You say that, but didn't they find that Air France right where they looked 2yrs after the fact? The one from Brazil?

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it pops up exactly where they lost contact with it.
