My knowledge of said system, on the other hand, is extensive. Which makes me very comfortable in saying that, what you're claiming exists, quite simply, does not.

He'll be tried as an adult and get life which is the most that can happen to him given recent USC decisions.

Neither Thompson nor Roper are what I would call recent decisions, but you are right that this will be controlled, specifically, by the Miller decision and Louisiana's subsequent codification

I wonder how many we have in NBR tonight? If SG has more murders tonight than NBR or BR, I will come here and (falsely) fly the Better Together Banner.

Maybe this will be another one chalked to Baton Rouge. 2 in 2 days? Cops have families and new year's plans as well. These assholes and their standoffs...they gonna end in one of 3 ways:

1. Shot by cop
2. Suicide
3. Jail

BATON ROUGE - Officers are trying to reach a suspect who reportedly barricaded himself inside a home Tuesday afternoon.

The Baton Rouge Police Department says the situation was first reported around 5 p.m. on Monet Drive, off Lobdell Boulevard. A BRPD spokesperson confirmed officers were trying to get to the suspect but could not detail that person's alleged crimes.

This is a developing story.

I've gone back and forth on making a new thread. We discussed it earlier in the thread and since the idea behind the thread is to keep a running count of murders since the election in order to laugh at Broome and TogetherBR, I believe we can continue with this thread unless the majority believe otherwise.

Here we go. A "serial killer" is on the loose. Rawls and Daniels need to put McNulty and Lester on it.

Police to announce new details in string of murders targeting homeless around Baton Rouge
By Chris Nakamoto
UPDATE: BRPD will hold a press conference at 11:00 a.m., Thursday to announce new details in the case. We will stream the conference on WBRZ.com and WBRZ +.

****

BATON ROUGE- A task force made up of members from local law enforcement agencies was formed in the wake of three homeless people who were mysteriously murdered during a two-week span.

Christina Fowler, 53, and Gregory Corcoran, 40, were both found shot in the head near the intersection of South 16th and North Boulevard on Dec. 13. Two weeks later, Tony Williams, 50, was found shot in the head on the porch of a home blocks away. Investigators believe all three of the homeless victims were asleep at the time of their murders.

Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul said he had been in contact with the feds and the FBI was assisting.

Officials say forming a task force is somewhat unusual for murders. The last time one was set up inside the city limits was in 2017 according to BRPD, when two black men were found shot to death. Their investigation determined Kenneth Gleason was the alleged shooter. He is currently awaiting trial.

Prior to that, police said the last time a murder task force was set up was during the serial killer days. That was in the late '90s and early 2000's as Derrick Todd Lee, Sean Vincent Gillis, and Jeffrey Lee Guillory roamed the streets killing people all around the same time in the Baton Rouge area.

"It makes me scared," said Roxanne Despanney, a woman that recently became homeless.

The homeless in our community have been advised to walk in groups and try to find somewhere indoors to sleep at night.

With the focus on catching those responsible, leaders at the Baton Rouge Police Department hope their task force will be the answer.

"We got with our surrounding partners, State Police crime lab, State Police, Sheriff Department, Baton Rouge Police, we are all working together," L'Jean McKneely with Baton Rouge Police said.

Unless we see more homeless murders in the near future, I'm not buying the "Homeless Serial Killer" narrative.

While we create a task force, let's have lunch discuss it along with a pending $300k study.

It is not funny that 3 people senselessly died and I do not frown upon the homeless. WHAT IS FUNNY is that Broome and Paul are going to spend countless manpower hours, tax money, and use Feds time and money to look for some dude who is likely also homeless and is smart enough to know that it is almost foolproof to not get a big rise out of the community. This is a guy who will kill for a gram of heroin or some pocket money. Likely mentally deranged and not a good measurer of risk to reward.

Also, 3 people in 2 weeks...2 of whom were at same location...doesn't sound serial to me yet. They were sleeping? Easy targets. Likely acquainted with the killer. It is dog eat dog out there.

We have had about 60 shootings meanwhile among "non serial killers". Where is the task force for this?

TigersSEC start a 2020 thread and in the 1st post keep this link and provide the 2019 final totals. I have a feeling ole SWB's constituents are going to easily beat this count for this year. Good job BTW
