A bunch of particles in the sky that are different shapes and sizes. The more pink the more uniform the particles are. Meaning all rain, all snow, etc
When you see that mix of colors it means it’s a mix of rain, sleet, a little snow
Since we have no Slidell radar the beam from Lake Charles is looking really far up by the time it gets to Baton Rouge. So most of the frozen particles are melting by the time they reach the ground, producing liquid rain.

What am I looking at
A national emergency. Has Landry called the National Guard out yet to help facilitate traffic control?

i'd argue that look from so far away in Lake Charles isn't too good because the radar is seeing too high up in the atmosphere that far out to get an accurate depiction, it may be seeing ice particles way up there before it melts on the way down

Lights just went off for about thirty seconds. Came back on, went out again for a bit but came back.
Think it'll be a long night

Likely branches brushing the overhead lines from the wind... But as the rain continues to put water on the branches and the branches ice over, the power will eventually go out if one breaks and falls on the line.
Not to be bearer of bad news but I'd say expect it at some point.

Thoughts on coming from Covington to downtown Nola tomorrow morning? Usually pulling into the port area around 6:30am.
Causeway is my usual route
