I killed about 30 of them in my man cave tonight. Mandeville has some swarmers.

How old is the house? Was the slab treated during construction?

The house is about 15 years old. I doubt the previous owner had any treatment done at all. It did pass inspection when we bought it though. One thing that worries me is a large open deck on the side of the house. It’s a two level deck that is made of untreated boards. Needless to say it’s starting to rot and I’ve always said that was a termite’s dream. I’ve just never actually had the house and yard treated and this thread reminded me that I need to look back into it.

I have removed the two smoke alarms closest to my car port door (2 working 10 feet of each other. Stupid building code) because each of the past two years those little Tucker’s has set off the fire alarms. Always at 2:30 at night, and never when the kids are away

Seems like they’re early this year. Last year it was Memorial Day week and it lasted for about 7-10 days and they were all over my house. It gets to the point where you might as well wait for it to pass before you start vacuuming the dead ones out of your house.

I talked to the guy who sprays my office and he said the amount of calls (and money) they get from people panicking that they have a termite infestation it’s astounding in the spring.

It’s gross when these frickers are flying around, but they’ll attract to water and lights, so just keep unnecessary lights off and you’ll be okay.

They haven't been too bad where I am yet. Knock on wood that still exists...
