Personally, I am glad that someone who is a first responder to criminal and medica emergencies receive a little favorable treatment when injured. These folks don’t make a lot of money to deal with the worst of our society. The least we can do is allow family/friends a few minutes to be near if they are fighting for their life. I would like to be near my family too, but can appreciate the difference if someone if severely injured in the line of duty.

Agree. We simply live in a "It's not fair" world where this takes precedence over C19 family members.

It is what it is.

I know quite a few LE officers in BR and around the country and every single one of them is underpaid. You have to really be called to do a job like that in a city like BR.

When I moved up here outside of Nashville there’s a very small police force. A few months ago they came out and dusted for fingerprints after some kids were pulling on door handles in the neighborhood.

Think about the disparity between that and Baton Rouge.

WAFB

quote:

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Police Department responded Sunday, April 26 around 1 p.m. to reports of two officers shot in north Baton Rouge.

Don Coppola with BRPD confirmed the officers involved are members of the Baton Rouge Police Department.

The shooting happened on Conrad Drive in the area of Winbourne Avenue and N. Foster.

WAFB Austin Kemker reports from the scene that the shooter, a male, is holed up inside a house.

A police negotiator has been called to the scene.

Baton Rouge Mayor Sharon Weston Broome arrived on the scene of the shooting to offer her support.

Two ambulances escorted by multiple police units were seen leaving the area and headed toward the hospital.

The officers were transported to Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge.

About 40 officers gathered on the second floor of the hospital to pray for the wounded officers, The Advocate newspaper reported.

Officials confirm that officers are actively seeking out the suspected gunman. If you know anything that can help officers locate the suspect, call Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867 (STOP).

Details are limited at this time. We will update this story with more information as soon as it becomes available.

Understatement but well said. They are not the smartest guys usually and they do not bring collegiate and grad school credentials often, but every damn of em (some exceptions here and there) deserve 100 grand. What they do daily is WORK. None of us would even want to work a traffic light for a Contraflow after an LSU game.

I wish we could be a city like that. Granted Nashville has its troubles. My cousin works in law enforcement in Fort Collins, CO area. Paid 80 grand and can work overtime at events and school stuff whenever. There are pockets of crime in and around the area. Guy doubles a salary of a rookie in BR whose beat is likely in NBR. Sad.

Bet the POS takes the easy way out and kills himself or suicide by cop. But by the sounds of the article, at least he won’t be getting away. Going to end up dead or will fry eventually

Sharon Weston Broome is on scene to make sure no black and brown people are hurt. She could give a shite about the officers.

It’s a shame that by omitting the description they give the exact description.

Funny you say that.. the prints and license plate # someone grabbed ended up being two known criminals from Nashville. They’ve started coming out to these smaller towns and doing their shite. The officers did say that Nashville Metro is always swamped though unfortunately.
