Of all the ways to go, in a flaming hot air balloon must be one of the worst

Takes going down in a blaze of glory to a new level. The pain and height would suck, but at least I knew I'd almost certainly have the most memorable death of anyone I knew.

I thought the same thing when I saw that on the news.

Do you jump and at least have a rush before you die or sit and burn while listening to your SO scream and burn? I say jump.

What a hell of a way to go. Got to be up there with those poor bastards in the WTC on 911. Do you jump to your death or burn up. Not a decision I would ever care to make.

Hey Titus

Burning to death is my biggest fear so jumping is a good call

I think you have to jump. There's a miracle chance you might survive the fall but probably zero chance you survive in a burning basket.

I want to say I would jump, but in that situation I would probably be searching for possible ways to survive, and staying in the balloon as long as possible gives you better odds.

So I guess I would stay until it was definite that I was going to burn to death if I stayed any longer, then I would jump

I read that all 3 were believed to be members of the Richmond's womens BBall team

The basket may have burned out at the bottom and made the decision for them.

Sucks either way.

Try to sniff as much carbon monoxide as possible so as to pass out.

I feel like they wouldn't have jumped unless they were in exruciating pain from the fire already.

If you jump wouldn't you die before you hit the ground from a massive heart attack?

Hey Paige.

I agree re: burning alive. But one of my other major fears is being paralyzed so with my luck I would prob catch on fire, have the bottom of the basket burn out, then fall and break my back when I landed, yet survive.

I imagine the WTC was so much hotter than that balloon, people were probably burning up before the flames even got close to make them leap to their death.

I will never forget seeing that (people jumping to their death) on *live* television.
