Of all the little league sports, are baseball parents the most annoying & delusional?

You can pinpoint these types from a mile away. Dad is 35, still rocking flat brim hats with a dip in his lip. Yelling from the stands, living vicariously through his son, who might be slightly more average than he was back in the day. Mom is yelling that the umps are cheating the second she steps out of the Tahoe.

I work with so many people who think their sons are bound for D1 scholarships. When the kids inevitably don’t get the scholarship, I can’t wait to hear them say “man, I should have saved that travel ball money for Jaxxon’s college instead.”

I’m not sure what the baseball carry over is. Same with softball. It’s the only recreational sport for people that missed their calling. The wife and I have tried to play in a few co-Ed leagues for something fun to do.

Then the games come, and if you’re not practicing twice a day, have a juiced $500 bat, and decked out in a full uniform at 35 years old, than...so much for having ‘fun’.

frick softball guy for ruining a great thing.

I take it you haven’t been to any AAU basketball tournaments

I graduated high school 14 years ago. The amount of guys who are still trying to play weekend softball always crack me up. You’d swear they’re playing in game 7 of the World Series.

That’s very accurate, especially mom who doesn’t even know the rules. It doesn’t stop at Little League, either

It’s because kids and people of all body types can play professional baseball, whereas in other sports, you’ll know if you’re not athletic enough eventually for the NBA or NFL

Never had a kid play baseball, but they can’t be worse than soccer parents.

Especially girl soccer parents.

These clowns are pretty bad. And they love getting injured while playing... Because they take pride in saying "I rolled my ankle playing softball".. Then they have to tell you how it happened.

I saw some LCA parents actually get in a shouting match with each other this season. I’m talking about a husband and wife yelling at each other.

Before the game, my wife leaned over and told me LCA was a ghetto school, and when this happened, she looked at me and said “I told you so”

My kid does the big three sports and I find baseball parents are the most delusional. They underestimate how athletic college baseball and professional baseball players are. And every one those guys has a canon for an arm, not just the pitchers. They think if their kid just plays and practices a lot, they can make it. It’s not the case. You need some god given gifts. Football and basketball are not as delusional because of the size of the players.

I know some guys that play softball in the church league and it sounds like fun, but I just can't bring myself to deal with Softball Guy from the other teams.

When and what level did you play? I coached a team that played mostly future D1 competition (or so most of them thought) I had one kid that ended up going D1. He's a senior at Cal State Fullerton. One kid went DII and the rest were DIII players. You wouldn't believe what goes on.

Coaches using players to get paid. Parents that think that every kid is a D1 basketball player despite the facts. The parents are the reason I stopped coaching. We had one dad that insisted his son was D1 because his sister was D1. A clue for parents. Your kid is the level that shows interest in him. If 10 DIII schools come calling and not one D1 guess what level the kid is?
