When I have kids I’m gonna just heckle other parents and not even pay attention to the game.

Have you ever been to a youth basketball game in the hood?
You better come packing heat

Worst part about these guys is they are usually running the team. You can bat 1.000 with singles and doubles but if you ain’t hitting it over the fence while batting .091, your a second rate player and ride the pine.

It’s the only sport little Jaxxyn has a “chance” to succeed in. 5’9” white kids aren’t making it in basketball or football. If Jaxxyn is on a WORLD SERIES baseball team, surely he’s good enough for college scholarship!!!

Honestly, it’s sad what is occurring in youth sports from parents from around the country. The fact that some leagues are actually banning parents from attending the games is unreal.
My dad use to stand by himself in the outfield, down the first baseline, because he couldn’t take the parents wilding out during Hs.

Of all the little league sports, are baseball parents the most annoying & delusional?
Wrestling in a few parts of the country is really, really bad.

Coaches using players to get paid. Parents that think that every kid is a D1 basketball player despite the facts. The parents are the reason I stopped coaching. We had one dad that insisted his son was D1 because his sister was D1. A clue for parents. Your kid is the level that shows interest in him. If 10 DIII schools come calling and not one D1 guess what level the kid is?

Nah, you were playing RF and he was coaching you up because he knew so much more than your coach.

my hometown is known for its softball tournament every summer (it's as white trash as it sounds). it's really a good time with a bunch of local blue collars baws playing each other and getting drunk... but then there are teams that come from hours & hours away with uniforms like this
take it very serious and start fights.

especially mom who doesn’t even know the rules.
You could literally say something like, "no, you can't steal third on lefties, it is agains the rules". and some woman would start screaming it at the ump.
That and the "not a bad miss" on a 2-2 count where the pitcher was four feet out of the zone.

Lol hell nah I played third growing up, my dad knew very little about baseball.

Haha I know, I def laughed at it just thinking about my dad trying to coach me. Just use to tell me to enjoy it. Looking back, it was fun just to play with my friends and joke about my buddy taking a one hopper off the nuts. I couldn’t imagine losing that part of the game at a young age due to the pressure to win from the stands

quote:The sane Dad alley. We have a secret handshake. We will be on our side, but midway down outfield fence. I just carry my wifes chair (you gotta have a goddamn chair, you cant sit in the freaking bleachers (rant off))set it down, make sure she has some cash...then I go gather all the crap up when the game is over. I occasionally go grab a beer in the parking lot, no one knows we are gone.

I was an a-hole to him when he was a tiny boy, I learned my lesson and shut my mouth. We will talk a little strategy or fundamentals, but just letting him play has made life so much more happy on the rides home

Funny thing is, everyone who has kids who play baseball love to make fun of the “other” parents who act like that, but you never hear from the “actual” parents who act like that.

quote:I am pretty critical, but many of the things are overplayed.. I have never heard a person who thinks their kid is going to play ball in college, or the MLB. after 8u and 9u, the majority of us are calm and dont scream and holler. But there is usually one mom and a dad on every team that are just obnoxious. There is no way to contain them.

Most of us Dads have gotten to know each other over the years and that is my favorite part about going to tournaments is talking to all Dads from other teams. My kid knows a ton of kids from other teams and we have gone out to eat with them some, and that is fun.
The rotten apple ruing the whole bunch is a pretty solid analogy.
