I was in elementary school in Kenner brah. They had a couple of black&white TVs. They put multiple classes of kids in a single classroom where they showed some of the moon walks.

To me it was of the most exciting things in this countries history.. Folks like my parents grew up with horse and buggies, model T Fords and got to watch this country not only put a man on the moon but return them safely. That whole era with the likes of Chuck Yeager and the all other test pilots....Damn that was and still is great stuff!!! If you were alive then you'll never forget where you were when the moon landing happened.I was in the service on leave and walking the street of Boston.Every place that had a T.V. had it on. You could have robbed a bank and gotten away with it.
I got goose bumps just remembering all that...good stuff

Or like Ted Kennedy... killed his lover two days earlier and the moon landing kept it off the front page.

My dad had served in the AF, so he was particularly interested. Our next door neighbor was an engineer for a the contractor/subcontractor who built something for the Space Program. The engineer had been transferred to KSC by about 1965 or so.

We went on vacation to FL and stayed at their house in summer of '66. I was almost 5. They lived in Cocoa Beach on the Banana River. All I can tell you is that I caught about 100 puffer fish and saw a Redstone rocket launch in the middle of the night. The launch was cooler than the puffer fish.

In July of '69, I was thoroughly indoctrinated into the space program. I was almost 8 and allowed to stay up late. (It happened in the late evening, I think ...) My grandmother, who lived with us, was among the original conspiracy theorist. I distinctly remember her saying that it was "all made up". She died in Feb of 1970. Or did NASA have her killed?

My grandfather would have been working at WTVY then (not on the air though), he was about my age now which is weird to think about

Would do it all over again if I could. I would love to stand for our Country with this President, what a gift to have him in office and be on Active Duty

I was 7 years old the first time we landed on the moon. Me and my older brothers were glued to the television set for the launch and landing.

I remember getting a Major Matt Mason spaceman toy for my birthday a few months after the lunar mission.

It was a great time to be alive, especially with tang and space food sticks. If we were going to be astronauts, we certainly had to learn to eat like astronauts.

Although old enough to remember both, I remember Apollo 13 much more than 11.

The wall-to-wall news coverage pre-empted everything (including my cartoons).

I do remember watching, only because my parents were making a big deal out of it. I was only about 5 years old but remember having a few neighbors in the house, we were all crowded around a small black and white TV. I don't remember understanding the historical aspect of the event just that it meant something to my parents.

Right! I remember begging our mother to buy Tang. In retrospect, it was pretty nasty. But if we were to be astronauts, sacrifices had to be made!

Honestly OP, I was 3 years old and we were at Leavenworth, Kansas cuz dad was attending CGSC. It was a HUGE deal and the entire neighborhood was watching. My parents had 20 people crammed into our quarters. I don’t remember much from when I was 3, but I do remember watching that. I think it’s because all the adults made such a big deal of it, and they planted me down in front of the TV set. This applies to both the launch and the moon landing.
