How is everyone blaming the girl and not the hospital who took a guy off life support without verifying who this lady was?

No reason to even discuss that.
The bigger question we all have is, how did she not recognize that he wasn’t her brother?

In her defense she’s got 15 brothers.

Powell said when she visited the man she thought was her brother, he had a tube in his mouth and a swollen appearance. Another sibling arrived and raised doubts about whether some error had been made. "She walked up into the room and said, 'That is not my brother,'" Powell said. But the man's facial features were similar enough that the family decided it couldn't be a mistake.

Wait... so the woman gave consent to kill somebody and now she's suing the hospital?

Oh we’ve got time, but Frederick doesn’t.

How do you think they should verify it? Could they ask the patients family?

This is pretty much the ultimate of hospital frickups.
She gets the “emotional damages” lawsuit and this guy’s family gets the “we will take you for all you are worth” lawsuit.

It was more than just her
His own daughter thought it was him.

One of Frederick Williams' two teenage daughters came from Virginia to say goodbye.
"She was hysterical," Powell recalled. "She was holding his hand, kissing him, crying."
His own daughter thought it was him.

Yeah right she’s happier than a pig in shite right now over the possibility of collecting a little money.

Did she not recognize that the person whose bed she was sitting by was not her brother?

The Hospital should proceed like the NFL and deny any mistake, blame her for making a big deal out of it, then have legions of paid talking heads telling her to forget it and move on.

Fred Williams (info from ID, other?) come into the hospital unable to speak because of a drug OD. They find a Fred Williams who had a previously had an OD in the hospital system and called the family.
Family comes, sees patient. Is with him for a month- no one says that's not my dad/brother?
What more was the hospital suppose to do- dental records, finger prints? They had a name, family came and verified the patient's identity.
