Now before the lounge jumps the gun, I am spending a few days in NYC visiting friends next weekend. I've been to NYC before and have seen the traditional tourist sights (Statue of Liberty, Wall St., Times Sq.).

While only having a short time in the city I'd like to enjoy some unique experiences. Anyone have any recommendations?

Walking through CP on a nice day--good way to spend a morning. Then, after lunch, walk a few blocks south to MOMA and spend 2-3 hours there. Perfect day for me.

Go to a nice mixology place. Dead Rabbits, the Library at the NoMad Hotel, and the Raines Law Room come to mind. NYC does a few things really well, and that's one of them.

ETA- Also, visit Gantry State Park in Long Island City for fantastic NYC skyline views.

Get a sandwich at Katz's Deli then walk over to McSorley's and grab a beer (or two... one light, one dark).

Head to the Comedy Cellar. I've been there a couple times and it's great. I have a buddy that was in the City last weekend and Chris Rock made a surprise appearance.

Go across the Williamsburg Bridge into Brooklyn (Williamsburg) and grab a drink outside at Crown Victoria.

If you're feeling a nice view and expensive drinks, head to the bars/lounges at Yotel and/or Standard.

Went there when I was in NYC. Hella expensive, but good. And don't lose the ticket.

nice to hear this is still around

In 1970, the legendary McSorley's Old Ale House, the oldest Irish pub in NYC, was forced to admit women customers after 116 years of being male only.

Here is a photo of the National Organization for Women's Lucy Komisar (fitting name?) at McSorley's after NOW's lawsuit forced the admission of women.
