This is such a horrific storm, with 150 mile per hour winds lasting for hours, entire cities without power for weeks on end, cataclysmic destruction, deaths by bizarre means including alligators, and now tornados and epic flooding in the Northeast.

Ida will almost certainly be the impetus toward widespread acceptance, and subsequent enactment of at least part of the Green New Deal.

I saw alot of the comments blaming this on climate change.

How exactly does one prevent a hurricane from happening. I'd love to see what's their plan regarding this. I am sure it will be very logical and realistic.

I can answer this, after hearing the news conferences today from the NJ and NY governors and NYC mayor.

They said that we must respond by passing their party's $3.5 billion infrastructure bill.

Not sure how building more subways and light-rail helps reduce flooding, since being electric they are the first to shut down and not useful for evacuations or response. Nor most of the other parts (the majority of spending) of the 'infrastructure' bill, like expanding Medicare, universal pre-kindergarten, making 2 years of community college free, child care subsidies and tax credits, and affordable housing upgrades. "Investing in human infrastructure!"

(Bernie) Sanders also emphasized that the bill would help level the playing field between wealthy people and the middle and lower classes, with funding to both help enforce existing tax laws for the wealthy and achieve “tax fairness” — as a memo accompanying the bill puts it.

But they will fund a Civilian Climate Corps that will be critical in raising awareness of climate change, since (like breast cancer) the media has totally ignored the topic. And more windmills, that produce about 15% of the time and not so much during peak demand.

Sounds very efficient and will surely go as planned now that the adults are in charge again. Their resume says 'Experienced in implementing evacuations.'

Plus an inch of rain would yield about 1 foot of snow. A snowstorm of 3-4 inches doesn't equate to much rain.

You want to know the most used line this morning by the media? I bet you can't guess. There's no way you can guess.

They were caught off guard.

Just blaming this on Hurricane Ida is silly on its own. Ida's corpse had quite a bit of help last night. Be leery of any headlines you see outright calling this Hurricane Ida with no other context or explanation.

frick off you self righteous dick. They are just as callous about the south and the “bible clutching, gun loving, racist, rednecks” as the sentiments posted about them here. Sorry some folks died, but it doesn’t change the fact that the majority of northern, east coast residents are arrogant liberals who hold the rest of the country in contempt. Karma is a cold
Bitch. They can deal with it.

Stop watching the fricking news and go outside. There are plenty of good people who live up here in the Northeast. Judging them based on the smug assholes you see in the news would be like me judging Louisiana based on the water boy.

I’m from Louisiana btw.

I hate that anyone died.

However I do get some enjoyment that those pretentious assholes had to deal with the same shite we do. And that was only the remnants of Ida

The fact the remnants killed more people in NYC than the 150mph Cat 4 killed in Louisiana is a testament to the southerners resilience

Good Lord

Let me know when China and India decide to catch up to where we currently are.

Then you might get people to entertain the idea.

Yeah... China alone puts out more greenhouse gases than the Western world combined. So, unless they are on board along with India, Indonesia, Phillipines, Malaysia and other heavily populated Asian nations, we're just virtue signalling rather than making a real difference.

Arrowrock Dam would probably break with 6" in 3 hours.

Again, calling this solely "Ida" is just not operating in reality.

Between that and not allowing political enemies who won't get a shot to live normal lives, you lefties are hog heaven.

LOL. JK. Even after you get all this, you still won't be happy until your domestic enemies are fleeced and jailed.
