Any of y'all fans of the old podcast Car Talk ? It was always one of my favorites.

If you've never listed to them, and are into cars, you should check them out.

Just found this site that has a bunch of their old episodes.

I remember a woman called in one time and said she had a VW Quantum. One of them quickly interrupted her and said, "Let me guess. You need a quantum mechanic?"

I think clack was the one that died. (Tom Magliozzi)

Click is the nickname of his brother Ray...I think he's still alive.

I remembering reading a couple of this recently about their personal views on automobiles and why their backgrounds in engineering made them better suited for diagnosing car troubles.

This one was really good, which talks about their background as MIT engineering students and quotes like this
quote:

“By the way, I should mention that hardly anyone knows how to turn an odometer forward,” Ray told a caller named Rick, whose girlfriend’s car had recently come back from the shop with 20,000 more miles on it than when it was dropped off. “There are plenty of people who can turn it backward, but forward is a lost art.”

Car Talk's Long Goodbye

Also,
quote:

During an interview with the The War On Cars—a New York City-based podcast that mostly focuses on reducing car usage in urban areas—Car Talk co-host Ray Magliozzi had this to say about his brother and co-host Tom’s (who died in 2014) attitude towards cars:

It was kind of odd that we did the show together for so many years, but he hated the idea of cars consuming our lives, our money, clogging up the streets, polluting the air, all the things that you hate, too.

quote:

And:

My brother hated cars. And yet he—for years and years, I tried to convince him that if he didn’t live in Cambridge and wasn’t able to get around with public transportation or by walking, he’d have to have a car that was reliable.

quote:

After explaining Tom had a beater to drive short distances that “wouldn’t have even made it to the state line” and that Tom didn’t understand why anyone would need anything better, Ray added:

But he was against cars because of all the things they do to our lives and to our world. And I agree on all of those points.

Down voted bro.

Come in here actin like you're some kind of Christopher Columbus.

This show was on the air for like 30 years, they were in Cars, and the fat one's been dead for 10.

It was a great show. But post-worthy? I think not. Everyone knows about them.

What's going to be your follow-up post:

Sliced Bread - what a great loaf
The Godfather - what a great movie
Michael Jackson's Thriller - what a great album
The 2019 LSU Tigers - what a great team

Thanks for the wasted bandwidth Capt. Obvious.

they were the funniest guys and half the time the people they were talking to had no idea they were being insulted...

my absolute favorite was some woman from South Carolina calling in about getting her daughter who was soon turning 16 a new Volvo convertible as her first car...

their reaction... "are you nuts, you need to buy her a 1972 Buick..." then they explain their reasoning that the kid would most likely wreck the car and you want her in something she'd be safe in and then brought in one of their teenaged sons who drove a 1972 Buick and talked about it...
