How the hell does something so important, so valuable, so old not have a fire suppression system?

Saw where there were a number of relics of Jesus that were being displayed/held here, including the 'Holy Blood of Jesus" and the Crown of Thorns. Hopefully these have all been saved

My heart is broken. I experienced Mass at Notre Dame on my honeymoon last year and it was a heavenly experience. I liked Notre Dame more than St.Peters at the Vatican.
