It may be a last resort, but if we could get DTGnome over quickly enough, he could suck the air from the room and finally be a hero.

News said they won't drop water via chopper for fears of collapsing the cathedral.
And because they’d prolly kill someone on the ground.

This is awful news. As someone who doesn't follow catholic religion, I am still saddened by this event.
I hope everyone, regardless of religion, ideology, etc., can see the magnitude of this devasting loss. Such a beacon of architectural beauty.

Awful situation, not to put humor to it, but holy shite, can you imagine being the company or companies that was overseeing that renovation? You just brought down one of the most beautiful buildings ever created. Bankrupt/finished

That's the least of their worries if their name ever gets out

No, I cannot imagine being in al qaeda
Was Saudi Binladen Group working on this Cathedral?

Awful news. I have been hoping they would at least be able to save the shell/exterior and then rebuild the inside.
Also hoping for the safety of those brave souls fighting the fire.

I would assume the company selected to renovate “one of the most beautiful buildings ever created” would be so over-the-top on safety measures that it’s hard to imagine an accident happening. That wasn’t someone’s brother-in-law’s general contractor.
Not saying an accident didn’t occur, but the amount of care and attention to detail that goes into working on a project of that magnitude makes it hard to fathom. Especially requirements for historical structures
