The French government has owned all the churches for the last 200 years. Anti-Clericalism is still big in France and has been since the Revolution.

Perhaps legally owned by the gov't, but culturally owned by the French people.

Seeing video of embers billowing from the flames. Hopefully they don't light any other buildings on fire.

Also you can definitely see some flames in one of the towers
