Save the goop that comes out for later. Very tasty

Bleach will eventually tear up your PVC pipes.
Every 6 month's put the $6 bottle of pipe cleaner in it and you'll never have a problem.

whole house smelled like bleach for about a month
Sounds like he also got bleach inside evaporator unit which isn't good at all for the delicate coil. Thats one reason my AC guy doesn't recommend bleach.
If you have one, stick a wet/dry vac on the outlet.

Blow it out with air compressor
How do you get it to pressure down into the drain and not just back into the unit?

Nothing a little bleach down the pipe can't handle.
That and slurp it out with a shopvac.

Helps get rid of insect nests, etc.
There's a wasp or hornet or bee that loves that particular hole side and cuts leaves to make a very complex nest. A steak knife will cut the leaves up and then air to blow through.
With vinegar, heat it up and then pour. That increases its reactions.

If you have a plumbing snake, that works too.
