Mayhaps the sword belonged to Beowulf.

I somehow believed it would be like a real version of the sword in the stone. In pristine condition.

Well no frickin shite

One theory suggests it may have been a battle sword

Well look at this shite. You could say this about virtually any sword ever created... what the frick do they even pay these scientists for? I could have thrown out those theories for half the salary of some nerdy arse scientist

Another theory is that, even back then, they had trashy people that bought them from county fairs to hang on their wall and impress females.

“One theory suggests it may have been a battle sword. Two-handed swords like this were commonly used in wars or battles around Europe in the 1500s,” Julsrud Berg told NRK.

A second theory as to the sword’s original use could be that it was used for executions, he also said.

It may alternatively have been used for ceremonial purposes or to show status, the museum director added.

So their theories are that it may have been used in one of the 3 uses for swords?

They’re sure it wasn’t used to plunge toilets, or brush teeth? Maybe some sort of taint scratcher?

I mean, these experts are dense sometimes.

I've heard you can find better looking swords walking across the quad at LSU.

No, but kayakers have found better swords in the LSU lakes.

I'd like to think the museum director's theories were his nice way of saying, "I don't fricking know. It's almost my lunch hour."
