Yeah wtf is McNeese going to do now? On a side note, that should count as their first win of the season, right?
McNeese already announced the festivities around campus will continue this weekend and then presentation of the homecoming court & other in-game stuff will happen at their next home game
ETA: and no... it's being registered as a no contest... not a forfeit
ETA2: this week's NSU/McNeese game was likely the only game of the season either 1 could legitimately look at and say "we can win this"
NSU now definitely will finish winless and McNeese will also likely finish winless as well

I find it very strange about the Coaches resignation. Just last year, a student athlete at James Madison committed suicide. She was a returning All-American catcher for the softball team. They did in fact, cancel the rest of the season. I did not agree with it at the time, but that is the new protocol. What I cannot understand, is the resignation of a Coach, who evidently, is needed by his team.

Speaking of Mcneese… how did they manage to blow that game last weekend against incarnate word? Did anybody watch?
UIW is just a better football team... they're top 5 in the FCS for a reason and McNeese is winless for a reason
UIW just decided "ok time to wake up and play football" and McNeese could do nothing to stop it

A D-I football program cancelling its season in October is some bullshite. Americans just have no sense of responsibility anymore.

In no way can this be better for the athletes. Now what do they do? Being busy is better for your mental health.

Probably has more to do with NSU only winning 4 last year and none this year. I’m betting he was going to resign at the end of the season and now it’s the end of the season.

He was telling me the other day Northwestern has about 8500 students and all but 1800 are online.
That don’t sound right . Less than 2k students on campus?

that's what he said. Can't confirm it. He wasn't happy about it.

It’s sad that a player died but what about about all the seniors that will now miss out on all their remaining games.
Maybe I am a little heartless but a player was shot and killed. shite happens but Ibdont think it’s fair to the players that will probably be playing their last games.

Apparently he was killed by another player, and a bunch of players were there when it happened and stonewalled the police.
Possible obstruction or accessory charges coming. Coach panicked and resigned to distance himself. Massive lawsuits inbound. Northwestern probably won’t survive this

Also rumors of members of the football team running a massive drug operation in Natchitoches

For their sake I hope they were better at that than they were are playing football.

I’ve heard Laird didn’t want the season cancelled, order came from university president.

Sounds about right. I was there in 2004 and I remember it being record enrollment of around 10,000. Probably very few students were exclusively online. At the time they offered night classes in towns like Jonesville.

i was there 00-02, and campus always seemed pretty full, though i have no idea what the enrollment was then...
and I could see the team, or at least some of them, being involved in selling drugs... back when i was there, it was the bigger frats like Sigma Nu and TKE that had a lot of drug sellers/users, but a lot of players were in those frats, as well, so it wouldn't be a total shock...
as far as the "Northwestern won't survive this", are you fricking retarded? this ain't gonna sink the entire program, nor the school, or whatever else you were insinuating with this dumbass take

Unfortunately for the state universities they seem to rotate having shite upper level administrations
Uno had it post Katrina
Ulm post name change
Nicholls in the late 00s-early 2010s all had it
Unfortunately looks like it's NWstates turn and they're in such a weird area of the state that it's going to be tough to recover
