Make no mistake, the next time one of your own (which will be today) talks about America as a brutal oppressive state, you won't say shite. "America is shite" is the core tenet of your party's ideology, FFS.

Imagine having very reasonable opinions on literature or confusion about newly invented pronouns and being ostracized for it. There is zero pressure from the left to course correct these views, which are average and not at all exceptional in academia.

I don't know how crazy it feels to live in NK. I'd imagine it'd feel a good bit crazier than life at Columbia. That said, if you live in an environment where everything is deemed racist, the M-F dichotomy is considered hateful, etc. - that's pretty fricking nuts and we're probably just talking about degrees of batshit at that point.

Make the argument that America, in current form, is the greatest country on earth.

My best shot would be that we're the only entity that - if allowed - can quickly adapt to solve major world problems. As a country we do try to treat innocents fairly (although often to our own detriment). It's a beautiful nation with geographic diversity. We produce and innovate more than any other country.

I think we've still got a decent claim, although 30% of the country is at war with a lot of the stuff that has put us over the top in this contest. Ignoring that reality is silly.

Of course, I could make an argument we're one of the worst developed countries, at this moment, too.

Our meddling and do-gooder efforts have cost a ton of suffering and treasure. We're a pretty divided country with decreasing national pride and deep fissures about the value of our founding ideals and history. We're the the country's #1 exporter of horrible ideas right now and have torpedoed our own educational system with said ideas. We're fiscally irresponsible.
