Normal business hours and email

A business associate got his jimmies rustled because I sent him an email outside of normal 9-5 business hours.
I tend to send email in the evenings after all of the normal family stuff is taken care of or very early in the mornings. Am I wrong in thinking that he is acting like a bitch since he has control over when he reads the email.
What does the OT think?

You can send an email at 3am for all I care. I'll answer it when and if I want.

Did someone hold a gun to his head and make him open it?
I like getting a jump on things, and checking E mails after 5:00pm helps.

As long as you dont expect a response till normal business hours, i dont see an issue.
Some in my company bitch about the same. I told them to gtfo. I dont sit in a office all day. Im on the road. I will email stuff when i can and understand they will get back to me during business hours.

You're not wrong. It was his choice to read it tonight instead of during business hours.
Was it something he needed to do once he's read it?

This is why I don't have my work email on my phone, unless I turn it on.
Unless you expected an immediate answer, tell him to stop being a whiny bitch.

Work email is 24/7. I'm liable to respond at 3 am from the WC. Or compose.
Sometimes you have get the thought out of your head before you lose it.

This.
You can send me an email whenever you need, but I don't want to hear any shite if I don't get back to you until 9AM.
I've gotten serious emails after 6 or so or on a weekend and that does bother me a little. If you've got some heavy shite to discuss that isn't time sensitive, don't drop it on me at home if at all possible.

E-mail is so overused and misused.

The good thing about e-mails is that they don't need to be answered immediately. It's a convenience thing. You send when it's convenient for you. He answers when it's convenient for him. In a timely manner of course, but that typically doesn't mean right this second. That's one of the advantages over a phone call.
frick him. That's bitch shite.

How old is this person? I'm assuming over 45 years old.
No young person gives a frick when you email them. My co-workers email me at all hours, if I'm not too busy I'll respond, if I am busy when I'll just respond when I get back to work or in the morning.

At first I'm like "frick that dude, no one forced him to read the email after hours"
But then, I got to thinking, if it's heavy stuff and especially something bad that needs to be dealt with, I can see where it could easily ruin my night or weekend and/or consume my thoughts.
still, though, while it may suck, it's definitely not something to get pissy about. It is what it is, id never get mad at someone for sending me a business email regardless of the day/hour.

This.
But if you sent it with a fricking read receipt @ 8:30 in the evening, I'm going to deny it if given the option.

frick all of you. There is no such thing as "normal business hours" in America. Answer your emails.
