Yes, these crimes could happen anywhere. But it's how often it's happening in NOLA that is the problem.

You can get struck by lightning anywhere in the world. But if a certain location is known for people getting struck by lightning more often than most, people might start thinking twice about going there.

Exactly. It's not the actual crime per se. It's the frequency and the fact that little to nothing is being done to rectify this.

Apparently their goal to be effective is 1600. From a NOLA Advocate article.

I guess "reduction" may have been the wrong word. They're operating at a around 70%.

I think this is why the statue thing is such a big deal. They magically come up with funds for frivolous things like statues, but can't spend money on retaining cops.

I agree. The 3 baghdad bobs downvotes are unnecessary. I guess people laughing at their dumpster fire triggers them into a downvote frenzy.

Meanwhile I'm sitting on my balcony overlooking the river sipping on a rum and coke listening to my man Jimmy.

To each his own mon frere.

So say you're twice as likely to get bit by a shark on the Florida panhandle than the east coast, but it's still highly highly unlikely, you should still choose the safest bet although the destination may not be as appealing..... I mean target is a mile past Walmart, and that would be an extra mile you are driving and could get in a head on collision. Maybe highly unlikely, but best to take the safe bet and shop at WM.

Why are you asking us for an excuse on why someone would commit a double shooting? Are you really this ignorant?

I will say that you could have 3,600 cops on the street, if someone doesn't value life and willing to shoot someone, not much you can do about it, they are already too far gone and are a failed human being. Only hope they get themselves killed or are locked away for eternity.

NOLA is the 49th largest city in the USA with ~380-390k people.

It is in the top 50 most crime ridden/violent cities in the entire world.

Cities 4x the size of NOLeppo don't have the crime issues that it does.

The audacity of people to excuse this sad characteristic of NOLeppo is annoying.

Exactly. In other cities, these issues would be addressed swiftly because it impacts tourism and the influx of money.

Mitch and the Baghdad Bobs in this thread simply want to ignore it, no matter the impact it has on tourism.

You raise a good point. Why are folks in New Orleans so much more violent than most other places in the country?

Is it the fact that they know there's a 65% chance that they'll get away with a murder?

Let's be funny and cal it NOLeppo, let's make a hashtag, let's put it all over Facebook to let eveeyone know how much we care.

It is at the point where, in Scruffy's opinion, putting forth a campaign to significantly hurt NOLeppo's tourism industry is the only way to get the city politicians to care.

And Scruffy doesn't use Facebook. He needs somewhere else to put his virtue signaling.

No. It's a combo of

No father present
They get no education
Getting that education and bettering yourself is looked down upon
Mindset is already installed that there is no hope

That's prevalent in most American cities. There has to be something else that sets NOLA apart, right?
