No link so make of it what you will.

Friend is an NOPD Officer and told me today that the administration has been quoting the number of officers in the high 800's but, in reality, there are currently just over 700 officers currently certified to carry a gun on duty.

They got the number from the Firearms Unit database. I know the media reads this board. This seems like something someone could make a Records Request for and verify.

This will work out well

Last numbers I have heard are 600-650 actual street patrol type officers.

The way to look at it is to just accept that the city has no functioning police department. You are on your own. Proceed accordingly.

Because by posting real numbers, it makes the administration look really bad. That’s how feds get involved

If someone was actively breaking into a car and got shot in the penis, from the shadows, would the police show up to take a report, or look for witnesses?

With the shortage of officers, you would have to write your own report, but then you can be assured the report absolves you.

It’s the ‘self checkout’ model of policing.

You really think the public information division is going to throw the administration under the bus? Let me tell you they've got "they people" in the right positions.
