It was years ago, but I remember seeing a video about the man who saved a bunch of children from the Holocaust. They were honoring him at some event and the audience was full of the (now adult) kids he had rescued.
So yeah, whoever the modern day version of that guy is

Yeah I was actually thinking of that same thing. Like Oscar Schindler. He is obviously dead though.
I said anonymous just to emphasize it is likely not someone intentionally famous.
We don’t know who objectively is greatest. But the criteria include things like standing up to people at a great personal price. Quietly sacrificing comfort, wealth, prestige, and/or power for the benefit of others.
Like the person who downvoted my post. Surely he’s in the running.

Yes the one I nominated offered himself as a hostage to Hamas in place of a bunch of kids.
I'm sure the hero's downvoting him do that on a normal Tuesday.
