NOPD did not immediately respond to a question about why Crain's sexual assault kit wasn't sent to State Police until December

"The evidence in Crain's case is currently being processed, said State Police spokesman Lt. J.B. Slaton. The average testing turnaround time is 67 days from the time the lab receives it, Slaton said. But, he added, the lab did not receive the evidence in Crain's case until Dec. 6, two months after it was collected.

NOPD did not immediately respond to a question about why Crain's sexual assault kit wasn't sent to State Police until December. "

67 day average testing turnaround time + 60 days the NOPD sat on the evidence = 127 days to perform a DNA test?

The Louisiana State Police are just as dysfunctional because they are taking 7 more days than the NOPD in this case.

The state crime lab has zero to do with what a local agency does.

I have a feeling that is much more on the fact that the crime lab 1000s of requests a day sent in.

This is why Mitchell says NOLA needs to be a sanctuary city. So the illegals can point out the rapists to the cops.

Bad part is the NOPD just fired and reassigned a bunch of people because of issues with the Sex Crimes Division. So these are the new people screwing up. wow.

In fairness I doubt it's the same guy writing parking tickets AND running rape kits.

DNA tests don't make money... tickets do. Plus this NOLA's PD we're discussing.

Test kits use to be backed up for years. This is an improvement.

I guarantee it would be faster than that if the victim was someone in Mitch's family.

And this part... well that just goes without saying.
