I did a Saturday afternoon wedding, and then an indoor/outdoor reception at The New Orleans Women's Opera Guild Home on Magazine and Second St.

You won't get away with a 200 person wedding for 15k. I just got married in Jackson square. We had 30 people there. Wedding was $4k (hotel rooms, 2nd line, "rehearsal" at Katie's, "reception" at Red Fish, photographer, suit, dress, etc.

Bride's parents said wedding or a house....
I chose well.
Reception was Dutch, except I paid for the booze.

I went to a wedding and reception at the Elms, also. It was a beautiful venue. Food was very good. Don't know about 15K, though, with 200 people.

Got married at Rosy's on Tchoup. 150 guests. Paid Rosy's about $14,500 and that was for an upgraded bar. Paid River City Hit Squad about $3800. Paid Hansen's $750 for snoballs. So, almost $20k, and I haven't even mentioned photographer, flowers, etc. This was 2 years ago. My wife and I and everyone else had a great time.

Nola has been the #1 wedding destination city in the US for several years now. I think the wedding party will make out ok.

OP, if you want a city wedding within that budget, I think you are going to have to trim your guest list a little.

Me and my fiancé are planning one as well for 250-300 people. $15k does not cover the venue and food. We are looking about $40-50k for the church sacred heart and reception venue, Marche on the river. I know it's ridiculous but that's what you pay for a Nola wedding.

Flowers will cost you about $10k+. Photographer $10k +\- Band - $5k, $120 a head for reception, rehearsal dinner is another $100 a head. Stuff adds up. Good luck with your budget.

WTF are you all buying? I understand how expensive every party of a wedding is, especially the reception halls, but that seems like a lot of jack for flowers.

I thought the same thing. Fiancé is sitting here with me and she expects thr flowers will cost closer to $15k and not $10k. Gulp. Not my money. lol.

This thread is a subtle brag.

"Im marrying into a family that spends 15k on flowers without batting an eyelash"

200 people aren't showing up to your wedding anyway.

frick your dumb bride if she thinks 10-15k isn't too much for flowers.

my logic is have a cheap, easy, stress-free wedding staying far within a reasonable budget and use the money you DIDN'T spend as a down payment on a bitchin house, so y'all both can build equity. maybe even get your cars paid off and take some awesome vacations with all the money you saved on not having a dumb 15k floral arrangement FOR ONE DAY!

morons.
spending 7k on a dress. 1-3k on cake. 5k on catering. 4-6k on a band.

This is definitely a learning curve. I've since got a more accurate number for budget and the 15k is just from the mom. Her dad is throwing in 5k plus whatever her stepdad puts up. I'd guesstimate around 25k now. But I'm not looking to spend everything we have. 25k on one day hurts my soul to think about.

I've been researching other venues at work and am even considering looking into hiring someone to make a big jambalaya and other things if a venue will allow it. I know it isn't my money and the fiancée is gonna ultimately pick what happens, but I can't help but try and cut costs wherever I can.

Oh and 10-15k for flowers? FLOWERS!? Bro.. . No chance.

I already have a house in Dutchtown too so we don't need any leftover for a down payment. Anything extra is going towards our honeymoon or getting invested.
