NOLA is different. They use city license scanners to find folks who have them outstanding and will straight up boot your vehicle if you are ever down there again. Different than many other places like BR where you can usually ignore them.

Only cameras are school zones. Wife sped through a school zone.

However, if it is still like is once was and you don't pay the ticket, they will boot your vehicle if spotted parked on the city streets and hold you for ransom of sorts until it is paid with late fees and also to have the boot removed.

Several council people are pursuing the ability to boot/tow from private driveways because there are so many unpaid. Infuriating policy if it goes through.

Gotta love NOLA. They love a good shakedown for money. Really makes you want to return / do business / live there. And people wonder why the city is headed the wrong way and the population growth is stagnant.

I mean, I hate the cameras but in the list of issues - your wife getting a ticket going 6 over in a school zone isn’t particularly persuasive

Really? Because I swore off nola about 8 years ago. Its a garbage city that gets by on a 100year reputation of being "fun and unique".

Maybe if your wife valued the life of children she would drive with caution and not speed through school zones

Nope. The cannot do that. You never voluntarily incurred a debt that you failed to pay back. frick em.

Only repercussion is they could boot you if you park on public streets. Unless you have some duct tape handy to change the 6 to an 8 or what have you.....

That would total BS if they get that passed. I'm thinking there would likely be violence in that case.

I haven't heard the council discuss crossing private property. Not sure legally how they could do that unless private parking garages/lots bought in.

They have had talks with the State to allow a suspension of a license after a certain amount.

TPOS

Probably some redneck bitch with a Stanley Cup, Coach bag, and white domestic SUV on 72 month payments. Came to the big city to shop at Fleurty Girl and eat at Superior Seafood.

I’m pretty sure Henry Clay leading to Children’s Hosptial in NO is 20 mph. I got a traffic cam ticket there one night going in to doing an emergent procedure. That street is garbage. I didn’t want to go 40, probably screwed up my car’s suspension.

I attempted to contest it. Submitted my procedure reports, including the dates and times. Provided hospital contacts for confirmation. I never got a response.

I paid just to keep it from dinging my credit. It was my understanding that they will file nonpayment against your credit.
