Per Her "Honor" the Mayor...

School Zone speed cameras turn back on Monday, Aug 12, 7 am.

They are active from 7-9 am and 245-445 pm.

Going as little as 4 MPH above the limit will get you tagged. Don't speed through them.

I received three tickets for going 5-7mph over during these times going down Broadway. Only problem was school wasn't in session.

Couple of years ago, I got a red light ticket, that I fought, and won.

The ticket had the name of an NOPD officer who supposedly "reviewed" the ticket and was listed as the issuing officer.

If an officer actually looked at this video and thought I ran the red light, he has to be the dumbest MFer ever to join a police department.

When I went to fight it, I asked if I could speak with this officer. I was told no. However, the city attorney was like, uh, this is stupid, and moved for dismissal.

If you show up to fight them, they will be dismissed for that reason. But you have to show up, which is crap.

Good. You shouldn't be speeding through a school zone anyway.

lets not forget abut the new parking meter cameras that will give you a ticket the second your meter runs out.

New Orleans testing parking meter cameras that automatically issue tickets

quote:

New Orleans is testing out a high-tech system to write parking tickets, without you ever seeing a parking enforcement officer. Placed at two different spots downtown, new meters monitoring parking electronically are currently gathering information the city will study. "There's always room for improvement on trying to make things more efficient," Deputy Director of Operations Josh Hartley said. "We're looking at the vehicle types that park here, looking at the violations that come in, how long people are actually parking here." So how does it work? After you park your car, you find your spot number and put your money in the meter. If your time runs out, a sensor in the spot will tell a camera nearby to take a picture of your plate and you could get a ticket.

I'll treat it as I do any other camera ticket.

frick this.

I use the ParkMobile app a lot in court. If hearing run long, which they generally do in Orleans, I extend my parking from court. I assume they want to crack down on the 2 hr max.

I fought it by mail and they tossed it all 3 times. All I did was send them Lusher's school calendar

I use this one and the SP app all the time..it's very convenient to extend your time

I would assume these locations wont offer the Parkmobile or SP option..which is bullshite

Parking sucks downtown and if people aren't paying for it and should be, I'm fine with them being ticketed.

But how are they going to pay for all these sensors and cameras? How long until they break? Are they weatherproof?

We can't fix basic road and drain issues but we can spend money on this.

Hey genius, i got three photo camera tickets for going 24 in a 20 in a school zone- on Sundays, when NO ONE is in school... but i’m glad you know it all.

Those cameras are one of a multitude of reasons i sold my house in NOLA last year and left for good.

New Orleans isn’t a shite city, that’s just a lazy generalization.. It’s actually a great city.. especially to visit, eat, drink and generally have a good time- but it’s an extremely difficult city to *live* in.

If you drive anywhere in the city on a regular basis, the traffic cameras will get you.. and if you own a home in the city limits, the sewerage and water board will get you.. my first water bill a couple years ago arrived, for my first three months in my new house they wanted $2700.. finally got it straightened out, but it took forever.. and if the SWB and traffic cameras dont get you, the crime or flooding will.

But if you dont actually live there, it’s still a great city.

School was in session - that's the city taking you to school.
