New Orleans, with it's unique challenges as a city below sea level needs forward thinking leadership to plan for their continued existence. Too bad the people in charge are mainly there to line their pockets.

Why would any reasonable human being take that job, having to rule over an antiquated, crumbling infrastructure where disasters are almost certain to happen?

Love of a government paycheck is obviously a good reason, but in 2017 and beyond, you aren't getting out unscathed. It is literally a no win situation.
