It's hard for me to feel any sympathy for anyone at s&wb but that guy got a lesson in politics hard today

Did anyone catch the woman who suggested solar backup power?

For rainwater pumping stations.

She needs to go drinking with the Parkway gal (concerned about health codes and serving liquor in a flooded bar).

I agree but did Becker really have an option to not go out and get roasted?

As goofy as that was its kind of nuts that they have to call entergy and request power to the pumping stations and entergy can say no.

I'll go on record that I was defending SWB a couple days ago, but after this shite show I have to admit I was wrong. I'm sure DPW's shitty local infrastructure didn't help, but SWB can take most of the blame on this one.

Ultimately the rain was going to flood things regardless- but a matter of how much. On the discussion of who gets blamed for that incremental flooding, I'm fine pointing at SWB. We knew they were disfunctional but they really took it to a new level

1500 hp motor = over 1 MW.

That's over 4 acres of solar farms. Let's do it.

The sad thing is two weeks prior this same shite happened so they had time to attempt to make things right or to at least be transparent about the potential dangers

Yeah, there would have been an accumulation of water regardless, but basically all of the citizens felt something was off with the amount of water and time it took to recede, and ultimately, they were right. All the pumps weren't working as suspected and the S&WB officials flat-out lied about it. That's not a lie they can take back and I'm sure things could have been better than they were following the rain with everything working like it should have been.

S&WB has a funky agreement with Entergy because they want to own their own feeders. They are planning on building a new substation that will definitely help with the reliability but that's 2 years away

The Bitch is saying the reason for the firing isn't because of the flooding, he said that was going to happen anyway, the reason from the firing was the was the misinformation was handled and the bold face lying.

To be honest. If the Bitch wasn't in Aspen he should have been the one that was in front of those cameras giving out the info. Instead he was snoozing in Aspen and he ruined people's lives because of it

Shame on you Bitch Landrieu.

Doesn't S&WB also rely on some antiquated electrical requirements for some of their infrastructure? I never quite grasped it because electricity is not anywhere near my specialty, but I thought they had some messed up power requirements that were cutting edge in 1910. Maybe that's just for drinking water. I can't remember.

Agree. He worked at his job. Hard to do it though with all the appointees and cronies there. Budget gets torched by hands in pockets. There are some good guys there. But it's like working in a family business when the family screws around all day and gets paid.

Whole thing needs to be blowed up.

Sounds about right.

The stormwater drainage and pumping capacity problems are bad enough. People should really be going crazy about the municipal water system that has been leaking like a sieve for years. At least there hasn't been another "boil advisory" in a while. Those have mostly been caused by power disruptions as well.

so... there's currently a flash flood warning in Orleans

(laughing at the situation surrounding the S&WB... hope no one else gets water in their houses/businesses tonight)
