NOLA public officials at it again - free Jazz Fest tickets for City Hall

These stupid fricks can't get out of their own way. Everyone knows that if you want to pull off something like this you don't leave a paper trail with tickets. You just put a guy at a certain gate and he waves through the privileged public officials. Dummies.
But don't worry because they are going to... Do absolutely nothing about this.

The company that produces the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival gave hundreds of Jazz Fest tickets to city employees last year, in violation of state ethics laws, the New Orleans Inspector General has found.
The heads of seven City Hall departments in the administration of then-Mayor Mitch Landrieu received the tickets, investigators said in a report released Wednesday (Dec. 5). Quint Davis, CEO of Festival Productions, told the OIG that “Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office/Marlin Gusman” received 16 free tickets, and the office has referred that revelation to the Louisiana Legislative Auditor, the report said.
Investigators concluded that the city received between 284 and 424 free Jazz Fest tickets, and that the majority of employees said they were aware they could not accept them.
But don't worry because they are going to... Do absolutely nothing about this.

The investigation recommends that the city discontinue the practice of receiving free tickets, and warned that employees who did so could be subject to fines associated with Louisiana ethics laws.

Such a corrupt state. It will never get better

Read it, tried to add my input, guest I'm still banned from NOLA.com.
Can't get a paper delivered either, seems I got someone's panties in
a wad 20 years ago and they have long memories.

Why can’t the jazz fest give tickets to whoever they want?

I guess this is a big deal since it's indicative of a more pervasive culture, but in a vacuum, who cares? Jazz Fest tickets are thrown around for free to anyone. If you know a guy who knows a guy who delivers beer, you can get a ticket or 4.

My sentiments reading it too. I’ve walked out of the Jazz fest office with a dozen tickets and they gain nothing from me. They pass those things out like candy to anyone they deal with.
I get it being an issue for government but I wouldn’t be clearing house over it either unless you can tie something more substantial to actual preferential treatment

It's exactly this kind of mentality that allows these fricks to get away with the shite they do. Louisiana is filled with low expectation having motherfrickers.

Can anyone guess what will happen to those involved?
Nothing.
And people ask Scruffy why he doesn’t want to move back to LA.

People need to read the article at the link.
The City, courtesy of your tax dollars, has been providing all kinds of free services to the for profit private company that runs Jazz Fest. The guy who dropped off the city equipment that Jazz Fest was using for free was the one told to pick up the big envelope of tickets (and probably cash) and drop it at City Hall.
The article really digs into the mess but it was too long to quote here.

Public officials can accept free tickets like anyone. They just can't accept anything of value in exchange for performing the functions of their office, and they can't accept gifts (outside of certain meals) from anyone doing business with or seeking business from their office.
So if you're doing anything for Jazz Fest in exchange, or your agency has business with Festival Productions, you're prohibited.

This is how state legislators get their tickets.

That definitely changes my commentary.
I’ll again say jazz fest employees give out stacks for nothing so it didn’t concern me hearing others got them, beyond giving a stern warning... but if there’s actual value being sent back to JF from the officials it’s totally different.

I just pray that SWB employees got their fair share.
