I've been laughing at some developer in Lakeview. Homie purchased several lots right two blocks from 17th canal near old Hammond/Robert E Lee and built 3 or 4 houses. They can't be more than 8 feet apart.

Been sitting on the market for 4 months now because he was asking $650k or so for them. LOL

I noticed recently that someone laid gravel on the road on that block to help with the shitty road. I bet he did that and not the city.

A lot was listed within 2 blocks of my house pre-K for 215,000 (less than 2 months before the storm hit). The prices have finally returned to where they were heading. The only real difference is the average size of the houses now and the average age of the families living in them. Residents have always needed an SUV to navigate the streets.

You just can't miss an opportunity to shite on Lakeview. It's sad.

No, because the simple truth is that buying in Lakeview is buying all of the problems of Orleans Parish while having literally none of the perks.

I understand you get butt hurt because you live there and don't like to see folks call it like they see it.

The fact is, the vast majority of people who have new construction homes in Lakeview are folks who bought lots post Katrina in the ranges of $40k-$75k. They simple could not afford lots in most of Metairie or other parts of Orleans.

perks of being mugged, broken into, and having a front seat to murders?

The parking uptown vs lakeview is no different. It's all street parking, at least Lakeview has alleyways.

So... smart investing? The ones that bought then have tripled the value of their properties

It was filled with a lot less pretentious assholes who live pay check to pay check but think they have money.

Lakeview was pretentious as frick before the storm. If anything Katrina took the pretentiousness down a notch.

ETA: And this isn't me hating on Lakeview at all. I'd consider living out there if the streets didn't resemble those of a 3rd world country.

I don't see how these prices will be sustainable

A lot of people who are out-priced in Lakeview are buying in Lake Terrace and Gentilly.

Very much the same, but it looked more like Metairie.
And had less places to eat.

Lake Terrace/Oaks can't be cheaper than Lakeview

Gentilly is booming right now though
